Production of the Mercedes SLS begins

Mercedes-Benz have started production of the AMG SLS supercar to make sure they're ready for the March 27th on sale date. Their previous supercar, the SLR, was built in the UK by McLaren, but the SLS will be built in Sindelfingen in Germany.

The all-aluminium bodyshell and chassis is mated to a 571 horse power 6.3 litre V8 engine. Unlike more mainstream cars, each SLS engine is built and tested by a single technician.
