Bonhams Car Auction was held at Goodwood Revival

Bonhams held its latest car auction at the Goodwood Revival festival. As thousands of car fans enjoyed a weekend of classic cars and aviation, the auction saw £3.87million change hands on the friday.

The highlight of the auction was a 1966 Aston Martin DBSC Coupe, allegedly driven by Twiggy, one of the biggest icons of the era which the Revival celebrates. The car achieved £320,500, over twenty grand more than the estimate.

The DBSC was one of twelve Astons in the auctions, all selling. Another highlight was four cars from an Australian collection selling together for £311,000. This lot includes a 1937 SS Jaguar and a 1935 Frazer Nash TT Replica.

The Lamborghini Miura, one of my personal favourite cars, was offered in the shape of a 1968 P400 which made £210,500 and a 1925 Bentley Tourer reached £157,700 – right in the middle of the estimate.

The sale also included some automobilia including an Aston Martin DBR2 child's car which achieved £14,950! The photo above is of a real DBR2, at the Revival.

James Knight, Group Head of Bonhams Motoring Department said, “This was another rewarding sale for the Bonhams motoring department. There is certainly good strength and depth of bidding for most cars and comes on the back of our Beaulieu sale we held the week before. So, over a period of six days, we have offered approaching 200 motor cars and have sold nearly all of them for a sale total of £6m. We look forward to our Reims and Boston sales next week.”
