Cannonball 8000 Supercar Rally Raises Money for Baby LIfeline Charity
Following the huge success of Cannonball 8000 over the past four years, and the massive 2.3 million TV audiences who tuned in to watch the ITV show of last years Rally, Cannonball 8000 now returns for its 5th Year Anniversary Event. With tickets long Sold Out for the 2007 entry, Cannonball 8000 is geared up to see 260 drivers in 130 of the worlds most amazing cars, rev their engines for the start line at London’s Earls Court on Friday 14th September 2007.
Joined by crowds of avid spectators, the cars ranging from Lambourghinis, Cadillac, TVR, Porsche, Maserati, Aston Martin, to Ultima GTR and an Ariel Atom, will be waived off by a bevy of Corona and Spearmint Rhino beauties and a flurry of photographers and film crew.
The rally will wind its way out of London, and then via Eurotunnel to Brussels, it then powers on to Prague and ends in Zagreb on Sunday 16th September 2007. (Budapest in 2006, Rome in 2005, Monte Carlo in 2003/4). The finish event will be just as spectacular as all of the legendary Cannonball 8000 parties, and it will all once again be caught on film and screened at selected cinemas, and beamed to TV’s across the world, via ITV1 & ITV4, Men & Motors, XCorps TV in the USA and Mexico, and Extreme Channel covering Europe, Middle East and Asia.
Rally owner and founder Conrad Wall says “this years event is going to be amazing. With many drivers joining us again for the 3rd year in a row, the camaraderie is going to be awesome. 99% of our entrants do the rally to raise money for charities of their choice, and we at Cannonball 8000 have ourselves joined forces this year with the charity Baby Lifeline www.babylifeline.org.uk , to help them raise their profile to a wider audience and of course raise valuable money for the cause. This is the really spectacular thing about our event, it gives people the chance to ‘give something back’ by using such an unusual event as a fundraising tool. It really is a true pleasure for me to see the publicity that the rally gains to be put to such good use. Last year between the 120 cars that entered, we estimated that a total of around Ł1 million pounds was raised, shared between a variety of charities…… truly outstanding”
Charity Baby Lifeline have entered their own car for the event. To be driven by two police driver trainers and BBC Midlands TV reporter Ashley Blake, who will be documenting his experiences and raising money for the charity. Baby Lifeline is the only UK National Mother & Baby Charity. It supports vital medical and midwifery care for unborn babies, newborn babies and their mothers through the provision of education, training and research programmes for the doctors, midwives and associated health professionals.
Cannonball 8000 is now recognised as Europe’s premier non-professional rally event; attracting an amazing array of cars, driven by the greatest people – ranging from millionaire to mechanic, with a few celebrity faces thrown in for good measure. There is no other event that mixes such a range of great characters from so many different walks of life, where they all get along, and many retain life long friendships”
