The Fat duck in Bray was opend by Heston Blumenthal in 1995. It quickly gained a reputation for its excellent French bistro style food, and gained its first Michelin star in 1998. Within six years The Fat Duck had been awarded its third Michelin star, and soon afterwards it was named "Best Restaurant in the World"

Heston Blumenthal has made his reputation not only by serving world class food, but also from his devotion to the study of "Molecular Gastronomy". Simply put, this is the process of finding out not only what food tastes like, but why it tasts the way it does, and what made it so. the dishes which have come out of this type of cooking include snail porridge, Oak moss and Quail Jelly.

As well as the tasting menu which contains these strange concoctions, there is a more traditional a la carte menu which lists Saddle of Venision, Best end of Lamb and Roast Turbot.

Reservations at the Fat Duck are very difficult to come by - it is important to call as early as possible, but bear in mind it is impossible to book more than three months in advance.

Louis Vuitton buys Yacht Manufacturer
