EOS Files for Bankruptcy

Luxury All-Business Class Airline EOS files for Bankruptcy

Following in the footsteps of MaxJet, EOS, the original all-business-class website has filed for bankruptcy under chapter 11. Plans were under way for new investors to bail them out but THEY failed to BE finalised. Their final flight left Stansted yesterday at 18:30 headed for JFK. Sources claim that Eos had contacted airlines including Virgin and BA last week to find a rescue bid or emergency cash-injection.

In a letter posted on their now closed website, the EOS team explain; “Our unique relationship makes it all the more difficult to share with you the news that Eos has filed for bankruptcy in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of New York. On April 26, 2008, we plan to operate Flight 6 (8:30pm) from JFK to STN. On April 27, 2008, we plan to operate Flights 3 (1:00pm) and 7 (6:30pm) from STN to JFK. Flight 5 from STN to JFK and all flights from JFK to STN on April 27, 2008 are cancelled. We will cease operations entirely after April 27, 2008.”

Rival airlines Virgin and Silverjet are working to put special rates in place for stranded EOS customers. There are now questions and doubts looking over Silverjet who are in the middle of discussions about a potential buyout, their shares have dropped around 90% in the past year.

Full information on their creditors, directors and so forth is available online in PDF format here: http://www.kccllc.net/impDateDocs.asp?D=2279

1.  What a shame. I flew EOS a few times and thought they were genuinely really good. What could have prevented this (other than a cash-injection)? More customers? Different routes?
