Lamborghini and Versace are not a new pairing in the supercar world, having collaborated together since 2006. Closely following the release of the new Gallardo LP560-4, Lamborghini have released the LP640 Roadster Versace, a limited edition model.
The car debuted at the Maison's Via Gesu 12 in Milan on the 23rd June 2008. Designers from the Lamborghini Centro Stile joined forces with Versace's designers to create the pastel white livery with the Versace Greek key motif on the lower part of the door. It's a surprisingly subtle display from one of the major fashion houses. It is anything but garish.
Although soon to be an option on the standard LP640, the Versace edition debuts a transparent engine cover giving admirers a clear view of the V12 engine. Internally, the seats are clad in the finest black and white leather, with opulent full grain soft nappa leather covering the instrument panel, doors and central console, all hand embroidered with the Versace motif once again.
Naturally, the collaboration didn't stop at the car, and there is a wide range of Versace Lamborghini accessories, such as a suitcase, gloves and driving shoes. You do not have to purchase a vehicle to buy these, and they'll be on sale at Versace boutiques and Lamborghini showrooms from December.
Gianni Versace's CEO Giancarlo Di Risio emphasised: "This new supercar and the exclusive Collection LP640 represent a natural evolution of excellence for both Versace and Lamborghini through the creation of these unique, one-of-a-kind projects."
Stephan Winkelmann, president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., said: "Our collaboration with Versace turned out to be an excellent experience and is an example of how we are pursuing our strategy of developing luxury products outside of luxury sports cars. We are proud to be in this prestigious, Made in Italy partnership with Versace, which adds to our other recent successes."
