RockResorts brings luxury to St Lucia with grand opening of The Landings St Lucia
St Lucia's newest resort opened on 19th December. The Landings St Lucia, A RockResort, is the island's most luxurious resort, offering the ideal Caribbean holiday for discerning travellers.
The Landings St Lucia, A RockResort, officially opened on 19th December 2007. Located on Rodney Bay, St Lucia, in the West Indies, The Landings is the most luxurious resort on the island, spanning 19 acres and nearly 800 feet of the island’s most stunning beachfront.
“The Landings St Lucia is an exciting addition to the RockResorts collection, as it marks the brand’s return to the Caribbean after 13 years,” said Rob Katz, CEO of Vail Resorts, parent company of RockResorts. “This island location further enhances the diverse destination experiences within our collection of world-class resorts.”
The Landings will be developed in four distinct phases. Phase One, opened on 19th December, includes 62 guest suites, an entrance pavilion, RockResorts Spa™, salon, fitness centre, pool, water sports concession, four-acre private yacht harbour and the Beach Club restaurant. Phases Two, Three and Four will incorporate additional suites, pools and restaurants and will be completed during 2008, 2009 and 2010, respectively. The resort will offer a total of 231 one-, two- and three-bedroom suites, all featuring water views.
The Landings St Lucia combines high style, indigenous local material and regional artisan craftsmanship to result in an architecturally compelling resort. Guests entering The Landings step into the airy, elegant five-storey grand pavilion, which features a spectacular three-story waterfall comprised of indigenous dark green andesite stone and walls clad in coral rendering, handmade by Guyanese artisans. Each of the resort’s suites is designed in either traditional or contemporary Caribbean style. Traditional suites blend European and Caribbean colonial décor with Italian porcelain tile, kitchens highlighted with Tuscan-stone mosaics, traditional West Indian colonial furniture, and antique and bamboo accents. Contemporary suites bring the freshness of the Caribbean indoors with aqua, teal and sky-blue accents, hand-rubbed paint finishes, rattan, mahogany and smoothly honed marble.
Ideal for families, each suite ranges in size from 900 to 2,300 square feet and offers a fully-equipped, high-end kitchen. A variety of kid-friendly amenities are available, including a “Creole Kids” cooking class with cooking demos to highlight recipes that encourage kids to cook with their parents. Families can enjoy activities including swimming at the beach or pool, golfing at the nearby St Lucian Golf & Country Club or exploring the island’s many sites such as the Piton mountains, nearby Pigeon Island or old plantations and botanical gardens.
The resort’s 7,000 square-foot RockResorts Spa™ features eight treatment rooms (including one couples suite), several relaxation rooms, a state-of-the-art fitness gallery and a full-service salon. Offering more than 40 spa treatments and three signature treatments, the spa blends the traditional St Lucian culture with innovative techniques drawn from the global spa community. Each signature treatment invigorates and replenishes the skin through St Lucian spices including hints of Vanilla, Bay Leaf, Ginger, Cinnamon and Boise Bande Bark. Traditional Coal Pots filled with local herbs, spices and fragrant botanicals are placed throughout the spa.
The Yacht Haven serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual dining, open-air atmosphere overlooking the yacht harbour and Rodney Beach. The menu reflects Caribbean and Mediterranean influences, and utilises the island’s seafood and fruit from local farmers and markets. Chef Roland Czekelius’ culinary creations include regional and international fare favourites with a twist.
“We are excited to usher in a new level of luxury to the island,” said Gary Thulander, managing director of The Landings St Lucia. “The resort’s magnificent accommodation, amenities and personalised service will establish The Landings as the ultimate Caribbean resort experience.”
The resort is centred around an 80-slip private yacht harbour, which invites guests to take a water taxi from the main pavilion to their guest room. The four-acre state-of-the-art yacht harbour is exclusive to The Landings’ owners and guests and has been honoured with the coveted Bentley International Property Awards for Best Marina Development and Best Caribbean Development.
