Gary Rhodes opens new restaurant at Grosvenor House, Dubai

Grosvenor House Dubai has announced the arrival of Michelin-starred chef Gary Rhodes as chef patron of Rhodes Mezzanine.

Rhodes Mezzanine at Grosvenor House Dubai

World renowned for his tireless attention to detail and unique mastery of the great British classics, Rhodes Mezzanine offers the best of Rhodes’ signature Anglo-French cuisine to Dubai’s most discerning crowd.

Located in the hotel’s flagship Mezzanine restaurant, Rhodes Mezzanine boasts four separate areas complete with private dining room, terrace and pre-dinner lounge area and bar.

Rhodes comments: “Since opening, Mezzanine has become one of Dubai’s most renowned restaurants and I look forward to building on this solid foundation to create a truly exceptional culinary destination. Food connoisseurs both living in and visiting Dubai are able to sample the delights of an array of delectable foods from across the world; so I am really looking forward to challenging their current perceptions of modern British cuisine with this new venture.”

The 64-cover Rhodes Mezzanine boasts an extensive à la carte menu plus an innovative tasting menu where all the dishes are individually priced. With a number of the choices offering simply smaller versions of those found on the à la carte, the tasting menu is ideal for those spoilt-for-choice guests who want to create their own dégustation menu, or simply intersperse tempting additions between à la carte courses.

To start, guests can enjoy mouth-watering options such as lobster omelette thermidor; braised oxtail cottage pie and a terrine of foie gras served with a warm duck and orange seared salad. Whilst, must-try main courses include slow roast belly of pork served with a sage, apple and onion tart and roast pork gravy; fillet steak and kidney pie; and roast breast of bitter duck accompanied by a parsnip purée and Madeira gravy.

Delectable desserts include Rhodes’ infamous bread and butter pudding; steamed jam roly-poly served with strawberry jam sauce and English custard; and warm chocolate pudding with Baileys ice cream and chocolate sauce.

Wine aficionados will also be impressed by Rhodes Mezzanine’s extensive collection of New and Old World wines as well as rare vintages, whilst cocktail connoisseurs should try a Mezzanine Royal, crushed blueberries served with Frangelico liqueur and topped with champagne.

The interior design of Rhodes Mezzanine fuses baroque-style furniture with modern lighting to create a chic and elegant environment. The main dining room features striking, brilliant-white walls with strategically-placed mirrors that add volume and space, along with suspended glass cabinets displaying rows of candles and vases of single orchids. Vibrant splashes of cherry-red and sunburnt-orange add energy and vitality to the seating, whilst Perspex panels lend an intriguing sense of intimacy to the spacious private dining room.

Rhodes Mezzanine is open from 7.30pm to 12midnight, Monday to Saturday and brings Rhodes’ existing list of established worldwide restaurants, many of which have won him a constellation of Michelin stars, to eight.

Grosvenor House has built a reputation as the luxury lifestyle destination in Dubai. With a mix of 217 hotel rooms and suites and 205 fully furnished apartment-suites, the 45-storey hotel offers premier level accommodation for both business and leisure customers and can accommodate guests for both short and long term stays. In additional to the arrival of Rhodes Mezzanine, Grosvenor House also plays host to the renowned Buddha Bar and also Indego, a contemporary Indian restaurant which boasts as Consultant Chef Michelin-starred Vineet Bhatia. Sister hotel, Le Royal Méridien Beach Resort & Spa, announced the opening of Maya, the first five-star Mexican restaurant earlier this year.

4.  (I am not sure my last email went through ok so I am sending another)My husband myself and two friends were in Dubai on holiday and visited your restaurant on 17th May. I just wanted to tell you how much we all enjoyed the experience. The four of us eat out once a week back home in the south of England. We have been to some of the best restaurants in the area and we all agreed that the Mezzanine was the very best. The food was absolutely delicious and the service excellent. We were hoping to meet Garry himself but perhaps next time!Regards Sue

Did Russian billionaire buy 496 million euro property?
Recently, it was reported that Villa Leopolda was sold to a Russian billionaire for just under 500 million euros. It soon revealed that Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov was behind the sale. As is the habit with Russian oligarchs, Prokhorov made his billions in precious metals. In 2007 he launched a $17 billion private investment fund, so he was definitely wealthy enough to purchase the property.
