The club’s members have unlimited access to the famous features of “Hollywood’s favourite country club”. We stay at the hotel and see what the facilities are like
Sitting beside yet another London suburb, the tiny community of Stoke Poges offers a bizarrely luxurious and prestigious setting for Hollywood’s favourite country-club. After escaping the chaos of London, followed by a short stint on the motorway, you are greeted with B roads and average looking surroundings. Follow the brown signs for a small period of time and you suddenly find yourself amongst wide, green open spaces, large gates and long drives.
I decided to have a nose around one of the gated housing communities and found property not to dissimilar to that found on St. George’s Hill, although with slightly more taste. Although probably untrue, I can picture the mega rich Brits here - St George’s Hill offers that over-the-top-look-at-me the Russians and footballers seem to seek. It is exactly where I can imagine today’s reality television stars want to live - if they could afford it.
I arrived quite late, so I had to announce my arrival. After all, I definitely did not want to miss out on supper. The staff were of course polite and professional - I rolled off the long drive and pulled up in front of the steps, my bags were collected and the car whisked away. As I march up the steps I cannot help but picture the exact location where Daniel Craig lay, or where Sean Connery as James Bond received his warning from Goldfinger and Odd Job, there’s no sign of that beheaded statue though! It is that same feeling you get when you stumble onto a television of film set, there’s something exciting and romantic about it. As I approached the top of the steps it struck me that the building is nowhere near as white as it appears in the films, but I recently checked my Layer Cake DVD only to find it is the same aged ivory colour in the film that exists in real life, it just seemed much cleaner on film the first time round.
Once you have entered and made your way through the grand foyer, complete with friendly and helpful reception staff, the building engulfs you in the uber-English decor. The columns, detailed carpets and elaborate chairs scattered around the lounge creating a large network of eight seater cul-de-sacs. The majority of the ground floor comprises of these seating areas, leading into the orangery bar area where guests and members can sit, relax and drink, enjoying stunning views of the grounds leading out to the boating lake.

Did Russian billionaire buy 496 million euro property?
Recently, it was reported that Villa Leopolda was sold to a Russian billionaire for just under 500 million euros. It soon revealed that Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov was behind the sale. As is the habit with Russian oligarchs, Prokhorov made his billions in precious metals.
