It was on behalf of all the glamorous partygoers that I made my way down to the Neville Hair & Beauty salon in London’s Belgravia to sample their unique One-Stop Shop treatment. The offer of a blow-dry, manicure, pedicure and professional make-up application all in one appointment was simply too hard to resist. And besides, the salon run by Neville Tucker and Elena Lavagni is frequented by a whole host of celebrities such as Elizabeth Hurley and Nigella Lawson so I’m sure they were literally falling over themselves to add my name to that list.

After a warm welcome I sat down and sipped my deliciously cool refreshment while Elena talked me through the order of my treatments. My blow-dry was first on the list and after my hair was washed the stylist bravely offered to give my long locks a ‘kick’ at the end before proceeding to roll my hair up into brushes to create curls. I must have been at least half way through Hello before I noticed and wondered if it was actually going to be possible to remove them. My fears were realised as I felt tugging and I glanced up to find the stylists exchanging a worried look. However Ciler and her junior stylist took great care and once all the hairbrushes were carefully removed and my hair twisted into curls I have to say that they had done a fantastic job and I was swiftly moved downstairs for my next treatments.

A chair with a bowl of warm bubbly water was waiting for me as I arrived on the lower floor and I happily plunged my feet into it as Alex and Andrea, the manicurist and pedicurist, greeted me. I have to admit that I felt a slight wave of apprehension at this point as I have always taken care of my own nails and found the prospect of others clipping away at them more akin to attending the dentist. The treatments however, were tailored exactly to my requirements. Pampered was my middle name as I sat there with my glamorous curled locks and my hands and feet being taken care of. I chose a natural polish for both sets of my nails and was joined by Emma, the make-up artist, who prepared my face for make-up while Andrea put the final coat on my shiny toenails.
