Ferrari 430 Scuderia

The standard Ferrari 430 is one of Lusso’s favourite sportscars of the moment. Its predecessor, the 360, had never been so high up on our lists, at least not until the special edition 360 Challenge Stradale was released late on in the model’s lifetime. This time around, Ferrari have chosen to release the equivalent model significantly earlier - we guess that the CS was a real money spinner for them.

With both a weight reduction (down 100kg to 1250kg), and a power increase (up slightly to 510bhp), straight line performance will no doubt be increased noticeably. The weight reduction will also help out on track where it will be shown up by increased agility, and better braking performance. As is the way with Ferrari’s halo models, there is a new and improved version of the semi-automatic F1 transmission which has cut gear shift time to a mere 60 milliseconds - almost as fast as current Formula 1 cars. It will be available from the end of 2007, with a price tag of around £170,000.

2.  Saw this car in Barados on holiday on Lusso site. Said - &prime have to get this the interior is just amazing. The dials rock and the car will be unique&prime . I immediately phoned Paul Bailey who incidently refused his as he has a top spec 430 and a challenge 430 he uses every week. He said that he could get one for me within 2 years says &prime give me a few minutes&prime phones Ferrari calls back in 5 mins. &prime Arash got your spec black with black with you in December&prime . Outstanding! £20k down a few days later finance approved new private plate purchased and a shit load of excuses for the family and wife prepared this is the first new ferrari I have ever ordered especially for me. Sold my 360 as it was so knackered after I used it every day for 55k miles. This car will probebly get used a lot less but I do miss the horse ownership and every man in their life should own a black Ferrari. Roll on December. Arash

3.  Thanks Arash! And for normal people who can&prime t call Pail Bailey and take his slot in a waiting list - any ideas? And spill the beans what&prime s your private plate then?

4.  The 430S an outstanding car and in my opinion will retain the highest residual values of all the 430&prime s. Just look how well the 360 Challenge Stradale prices have stood up. They are still selling near 100K after 4 years (they where 140k new) that kind of depreciation on this level of car is exceptional! The 430S is selling at £172 500 basic price though with full options (all the carbon fibre which you&prime ll want!) and goodies will set you back nearer £200k. Serious money for a serious car...

5.  Yeah but back when Ferrari launched the 360 the barder lighter faster strong version was a new thing and now you have the Superlegera (sp) Porsche GT series and so forth - don&prime t you think this will have a knock on effect on the depreciation of cars like this?

By Trevor Mensah (25 October 2007)
6.  The latest trend in the supercar industry is &prime lightweight&prime products. The horsepower wars are won and nobody can compete with the Bugatti figures not even Ferrari dare risk its image as a killer of the planet. Reducing weight improves fuel economy handling dynamics and performance. Its a win-win approach. Having &prime race car&prime dynamics and feelings in a road car works better than most people would imagine due to new technologies and use of exotic materials such as carbon fibre and titanium. These very special cars are still retaining air-con stereo comfy-ish seats and lavish Carbon Fibre trimmings everywhere but built in small numbers because carbon fibre takes time to produce (and its costly!). The concept and execution of these " enthusiasts" cars works so very well both in making the car feel special and dynamically harder edged. Car nuts around the world cannot get enough! While there are other marques such as Porsche and Lamborgini producing equivalent cars such as the Superleggera they are not produced in sufficient quantities to lower demand for Ferrari&prime s flag ship models - Ferrari cars can claim Formula 1 credentials and ofcourse that legendary Prancing horse badge. I love my 360CS and wouldn&prime t change it for anything else....

7.  ...Not even for a 430s?

By Carl (25 October 2007)
8.  I saw this car on a recent trip to Marranello actually looks stunning and I have no doubt it drives fantastically. Worth the extra over an F430??If you can afford it I guess so (I&prime ll have mine without the cheesy stripe though thanks)
