Kent & Curwen Open Flagship Store

Kent & Curwen on London’s Conduit Street

Kent & Curwen on London’s Conduit Street

This September sees the launch of a brand new flagship store for traditional menswear brand Kent & Curwen. Modern architects and interior specialists Softroom have designed the store on London’s Conduit Street with three interconnected themes to represent ‘British-ness’:

Bespoke – Shirts and accessories will be displayed in tan leather niches set into a curved black lacquered wall. Inspired by the bodywork of a Rolls-Royce Phantom and its sumptuous leather interior, the area represents design classics developed into the 21st century while maintaining a link with the past.

Heritage – Clothes will also be displayed along a surface of reclaimed parquet floor laid against a wall. The selective use of aged materials used in an unconventional way is to acknowledge both the history of Kent & Curwen and Britain’s love of all things quirky and unusual.
Eclectic – The epicentre of the store displays a diverse range of modern British furniture and display plinths. This eclectic collection is a reference to the handcrafted bespoke tradition while the ceiling of different textured stripes reflects the fabrics found in the Kent & Curwen archives.

The Kent & Curwen brand, founded in London in 1926, combines prestigious tailoring with quirky casualwear. Modern tailored garments form the basis of the autumn/winter 2006 collection that takes its design influences from the 1970’s. Cricket jumpers with oversized cable knit patterns and slim-line sportswear shapes reflect the heritage of the brand while blouson jackets in tartan, pinstripe and tweed lend a casual elegance to the collection. A number of trench coats are also available in luxurious cottons. A visit to the new flagship store is a must for the modern British gentleman.

Did Russian billionaire buy 496 million euro property?
Recently, it was reported that Villa Leopolda was sold to a Russian billionaire for just under 500 million euros. It soon revealed that Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov was behind the sale.
