Handle Holdup

Daniel Sharp Blogs - Volvo V50

Volvo V50 Blog, Volvo Jamming Handle, Volvo Broken Door Handle

As robust and reliable as Volvos are, it seems they're also prone to problems. The front, passenger side door handle stopped working a few days ago. It can still be opened from the inside but when pulled from outside the car, 90% of the time it just jams (see pic).

I called the nearest Volvo center and they said to just come in with it, so I made plans to drop it off after the weekend.

By about Sunday evening it started working 30% of the time, then come Monday when it was time to drop it off at the dealer, it was fine. They had a brief look at it, completed some recalls and that was about all they could do.

Tuesday, it's back again! It'll work fine occasionally but it’s just too sporadic to take to a garage and have them diagnose something they cannot see working, so they've agreed to order all the parts in from Sweden and replace the lot, which is nice.

1.  offside froint wheel . puddle of water underneath each morning when I move car out of garage. could this be a problem with the windsreen washer resevoir bottle ? have already in the past had new bottle fitted and told that there was a design fault with the first one. have recently taken car to dealers but they seemed reluctant to do a thorough check . will try again any comments would be appreciated.

5.  I have a V50. Suddenly this week: The starter engine worked but nothing related with lamps A/C indicators etc worked. Problem mentioned by Volvo maintenance office: The " central command box" should be swapped.(aprox 1.500'‚¬ installation costs) .. . and the car has only two years. Good point for Volvo reliability!
