Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Regulator News
The Vacheron Constantin Malte Tourbillon Regulator is the newest watch from the Richemont Group company. Its tonneau shape is easily recognisable, and is a traditional element of watch from this company, with a history going back for over 100 years. Two versions of this case will be made available from SIHH. Both measure 40mm x 50mm, but one will be made from 18kt rose gold, whilst the other is in platinum. Both have sapphire crystals.
The movement is made in-house by Vacheron Constatin. Most of the movement’s parts are hand finished - the bar alone takes eleven hours to complete, in a process known as berçage. Firstly the arms are filed to give them a perfectly conical shape then they must be polished in three separate processes to achieve the desired finish. The face is also made from 18kt gold, and has five separate finishes (Snailed, Guilloched, Opaline, vertical satin and circular stain) to enhance the readability and aesthetics. The strap is made from crocodile leather.
